Nitecore NU25

A good headlamp is key, especially during the darker month of the year. I regularly go outdoors in the dark for a run, an extended hike or ski mountaineering. I’m always looking for something light, strong and long-lasting when it come to my headlamp. I’m not too fond of bulky, heavy torches and headlamps that feel like a brick.

At the moment, the Nitecore NU25 is one of my favorite headlamps. It ticks all the boxes - or almost. With 360 lumen the lamp is powerful enough for my needs, even trail running in the dark. The lamp is fairly light with close to 30 gram. The tiny package even brings a red light, handy especially at night when you do not want to wake all other guest in a mountain hut.

The usability is straight forward, works well in most circumstances. Thick gloves are a handicap though. The power is long lasting with 8h on full power. Most of the time you need a lot less. Re-charging can be done via a micro USB connection at the bottom of the headlamp (covered by a plastic flap).

What is there not to like?
It would be such a blessing to get the NU25 with a USB-C connector. Dear Nitecore product team, please upgrade - it is probably one of the last devices in my backpack requiring a micro USB connection. I’d love to get rid of that rather sooner than later and streamline the package even further. Other than that - great one. Highly recommended.
